Gluten Free Dairy free Apple Crisp

This gluten free dairy free Apple Crisp has the warmth and sweetness of a traditional apple crisp, however does not contain any gluten or dairy, and is a surprisingly healthy and outrageously delicious version. This is the perfect autumn dessert.

Ingredients
  

Apple Filling

  • 20 medium to large apples see notes
  • 2 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 4 tbsp arrowroot powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 5 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Crisp

  • 3 cup organic rolled oats
  • 2 cup almond flour
  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup almond butter
  • 1 cup virgin coconut oil melted
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare a 13x9 baking dish with nonstick spray such as avocado oil spray.
  • Peel and dice apples.
  • In large mixing bowl, mix together diced apples, apple sauce, arrowroot powder, vanilla, lemon juice, coconut sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon until completely coated.
  • dump apple mixture into baking dish, spreading evenly with a spatula.
  • Using the same mixing bowl for the crisp topping; combine the oats, almond flour, coconut sugar, salt and cinnamon, almond butter, melted coconut oil and vanilla. Mix well until completely combined and all dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Sprinkle crisp topping evenly over apple mixture, using your hands if need be. Pat down to flatten.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the crisp is golden brown.
  • Let rest for 15 minutes. Serve warm with your favorite non dairy vanilla ice cream or coconut whipped cream.
  • Cover remaining crisp and store in refrigerator.
